Japanese international travel agencies wished Ho Chi Minh City to be a key destination of Japanese tourists as they visited Vietnam.

This wish was unveiled in a seminar, “Launching the market of Japanese tourists”, held by Vietnam Airlines on October 25th in Ho Chi Minh City.

The seminar, participated by more than 40 Japanese travel agencies and various Vietnamese travel businesses, is part of activities to attract more tourists to Ho Chi Minh City, named “Next Ho Chi Minh City”, designed exclusively for the Japan market.

These activities offer a number of promotions for Japanese tourists.

In fact, the number of Japanese tourists to Vietnam sharply reduced after Japan was hit by the strong earthquake and tsunami early this year. However, Ho Chi Minh City remained an attractive destination for Japanese tourists.

At the seminar, many participants pointed out that from Ho Chi Minh City, Japanese tourists would travel to various other Vietnamese tourism spots, such as Nha Trang, Hoi An and Hue and to other regional countries like Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.

Vietnam National Tourism Administration plans to open a representative office in Japan, the third largest market of Vietnam tourism.

In the first nine months of this year, nearly 381,000 Japanese tourists visited Vietnam.
