The Dutch Farmers’ Organisation has recently granted some VND9billion to the An Giang Farmers’ Association to train local farmers as tourist service providers and tourist guides.

The Manager of the An Giang Farmers’ Tourism Centre under the An Giang Farmers’ Association, Nguyen Thanh Tung said that the Centre will open tourism training courses to provide basic knowledge of tourist services for local farmers.

In addition, local farmers will receive supports to upgrade their homes, especially bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens to better serve tourists.

According to Mr. Tung, the southern Province of An Giang is promoting cultural and rural tourism in some localities.

Tourists can live and work with farmers but tourism activities do not affect local agricultural production.

At this point, an increasing number of domestic and international tourists flock to An Giang to experience rural life and farming work.

Tourist attractions in the province include Ong Ho Isle with the late President Ton Duc Thang Memorial Site, Phong Chau Brocade Craft Village with typical culture of the Cham ethnic minority, Da Phuoc Fish-farming Village, TaBang Th-leng green Rice Flakes Village of the Khmer ethnic minority, Oc Eo Historical Site and Sap Lake.
