Hue hosts arts festival

THUA THIEN-HUE, 20 March 2012: The biennial event, Hue Festival 2012 opens April as part of  a series of promotions under the National Tourism Year 2012 banner.

Scheduled 7 to 15 April, the Hue Festival 2012 should attract participation from 30 countries that have promised to send 40 artists.

Following a theme of “Cultural Heritage Combined with Economic Development and International Integration,” the festival is the main highlight of the National Tourism Year 2012 celebrations for the north and the central coastal regions.

Apart from arts and culture, the Hue Festival  will also feature the 13th annual conference if the League of Historical Cities that will attract representatives from 80 cities across 55 countries and territories.

This year, France is the signature partner as it supplies most of the artists, but there are some attending from Russia, Japan, Korea, Belgium, United Kingdom, Mexico, Panama, Cuba, Latin America and neighbouring countries.

During the year, Thua Thien-Hue province will host 20 events, including 11 national and nine provincial events. It is part of the National Tourism Year activities that identifies certain regions to take the lead.

The province has over 500 accommodation establishments, including 200 hotels and 300 inns.

Hue is a capital city of Thua Thien-Hue province and best known for its ruined Imperial City that is now a World Heritage site.
